7 Errors Good Window Installers Don’t Make

Your windows allow sunlight to bathe your rooms and give you beautiful views of the world outside. But what if they’re not installed correctly? Mistakes can lead to leaks, drafts and even safety hazards. In this blog post, window experts Pressure Point Roofing, Inc. walks you through seven of the most common window installation mistakes that trained, professional installers will never make.

7 Errors Good Window Installers Don't Make

1. Ignoring the Manufacturer’s Instructions

Reputable window installers need to follow the manufacturer’s instructions to the letter. Doing otherwise is a significant error that can have repercussions on the longevity of your investment, as well as the energy efficiency and aesthetic appeal of your home. Expert window installers know the importance of these instructions and strictly adhere to them.

2. Not Considering the House’s Structure

Another crucial factor often overlooked during window installation is the house’s structure. The structure can greatly affect the installation process, sometimes requiring a custom approach. Professional window installers always consider the existing architecture of the house before proceeding with the installation to guarantee a perfect fit.

3. Improper Sealing

In window installation, sealing is paramount. Do it wrong and this could lead to drafts and potential water damage inside your home. A good window installer ensures the window is sealed perfectly, leaving your home cozy, dry and draft-free.

4. Neglecting Safety Measures

Safety should never be a secondary consideration when installing windows. From using the correct equipment to following safety protocols, best practices must be followed to prevent accidents. Trustworthy installers prioritize safety, providing peace of mind to homeowners.

5. Poor Measurement

A good window installer understands the importance of accurately measuring the window openings. This ensures that the windows will fit properly and function as intended. Improper measurements can lead to gaps around the windows, resulting in air and water infiltration, poor insulation and higher energy costs.

6. Improper Flashing

Window flashing is a critical component of the installation process, as it directs water away from the window opening and your home’s framing. Good installers take the time to install flashing correctly, ensuring that it creates a continuous barrier against water intrusion.

7. Lack of Communication

Good window installers keep their customers informed throughout the installation process. They’re happy to answer questions, address concerns and explain their actions at each step, ensuring you feel comfortable and confident in their work.

I just wanna give a shout out to one of your guys who jumped out of vehicle to help me push my van out from 62 onto coker Butte this morning awesome job and thank you so much..

No hassles, no stress roofing contractor.

We've worked with a number of contractors over the years doing home improvement projects and I can say that, without question, working with Pressure Point was about as easy as it gets.

Everything about the project, from sales all the way to final inspection, went like clockwork and without a hitch.  They delivered more than they promised, on time and within budget.   We could not have been happier with their personnel, products and services.  Highly recommended!

I've changed my review from a 1 star to a 4 stars. Matt Stone got right on a pretty poor job done installing a skylight. He had his guys remove the skylight, move it, repair the roof and inside ceiling to its original state, paint it, repair some external trim that was damaged, and all within a few days after talking to him about the multiple problems. It was really an eyesore from the inside. I'd give a 5 star if this had been done well the first time. The skylight just didn't fit the space I first wanted it and was told it would. More communication about the potential problems might have allowed this to be done right the first time. But, Pressure Point Roofing gets 5 starts for making amends and correcting a pretty ugly problem, very fast! Thank you.

I needed someone to come out to take a look at a leaky roof. I contacted Pressure Point Roofing, Inc. and they came out the same day. They gave me a quote to fix the problem and I agreed to their terms. It was about 4PM and I knew they closed at 5PM but they stayed and fixed the leak at no additional cost. I was very happy and impressed. Would recommend them to anyone. Thank you Pressure Point Roofing for earning our families trust. Will definitely be doing business with you again.

Wouldn't be good if I didn't think the best of my own company right?!

Matt Stone

Excellent experience, prompt and professional estimate, showed up on schedule (actually a day early) and did a thorough and complete job. All personnel were professional, polite and great at their jobs. Would recommend to anyone.

I am so happy I chose Pressure Point to replace my 40-year-old roof.  The crew was professional, efficient, and answered all my questions, addressed the few concerns I raised, and made me feel comfortable, trusting them with such a big project.  I couldn't be happier with their work and the look of my new roof.
